Love
The world’s view of love covers everything from a strong natural liking for something (”I love ice cream”) to man’s romantic impulses (”I’m in love”). The common denominator is emotions. However, we must go to the Bible to find out how God defines the word “love.” The answer is found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
When you pay close attention to the testimony of the Bible, you find that love is not a feeling at all! Love is better described as an attitude which is expressed through action. It is a freeing experience to realize that God is not commanding us to feel any kind of “warm fuzzy” emotion toward all people. In fact, the Bible has very little to say about what we should be feeling at all. But it has plenty to say about what we should be doing! The Bible’s instructions are directed toward man’s will with a view to action.
