The issue of identity is inescapable and central to our lives. We all ask, “Who am I?” Tied in with this drive for identity are the spiritual needs of unconditional love and acceptance, and a meaning and purpose to life. That is why so much of our time and energy is devoted to discovering who we are. Since this need for identity is so strong, how do we determine who we are?

There is only one identity that cannot be shaken, one foundation that cannot be taken away from you: “I’m a child of God.” Now you might be a child of God who works in the business world, or practices medicine, or plays a sport, or serves as a mother. But your true identity comes from your relationship with your God and Father. And knowing that you are a child of God is the only way to experience true security in this world.
