While driving on the autobahn yesterday for a couple of hours I had enough time to hear some PTP-broadcasts which I downloaded through the internet. I was very touched when I heard about the soldiers in Iraq that don´t get any mail from home... (more)
“I want to thank you for all the wonderful packages you sent. All the sailors and marines loved the gifts and thought it was a blessing to receive items that we really need and can use every day.

I want to especially thank you for my blankets. I used them lastnight and for the first time in many months, I slept like a baby.

Thanks for everything.”

Henry

“Thank you for your care package. It does give me a “home” like feeling here in Iraq. I really appreciate all the support you, your family and friends give us. I couldn’t ask for more. It really feels good knowing that there are still people out there to fight for, to ensure that they have a peaceful life. For all of you, I will keep fighting.”

While driving on the autobahn yesterday for a couple of hours I had enough time to hear some PTP-broadcasts which I downloaded through the internet. I was very touched when I heard about the soldiers in Iraq that don´t get any mail from home and feel somehow forgotten. My time as a soldier in the German Bundeswehr lies now 20 years in the past. Although I could drive home nearly every weekend it was hard for me to be separated for the first time in my life from my beloved ones for almost 5 days a week. It was only 90 miles, an 1,5h drive, but it was at that time a real distance for me… Now being away some thousand miles and without family for months is surely much harder to bear than it was for me.

We like your country and your people. We had the opportunity to stay in Grand Rapids during the days of Sept. 11, 2002 and were really blessed by the patriotism that most Americans showed at this day. Attached to the newspaper at this special day was a sticker with the union jack and the sentence "God bless America". I still have this sticker here with me at home.

Some of your best people already lost their lives for peace and freedom. Please send two unknown soldiers warm greetings from a German couple.
