Week 19 – Acts 2-6

The Fire Inside

They were waiting. That is what Jesus told them to do, because at a certain time something significant was going to happen. What it all meant, they were not quite sure, but it had to do with the Holy Spirit and power. So they waited.

On the morning of the day of Pentecost, their wait was interrupted by the sound of rushing wind, and tongues of fire. These men, the disciples, were filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke languages unknown to them.

The sound brought Jerusalem to life. Activity in the city began to move at a rapid pace as the people hurried to the place where the disciples had gathered. They were curious. What is this strange thing that is happening? Read the rest of this entry »

Week 18 – John 18 – Acts 1

It is finished! It was the last statement Jesus made before He died.

But it was far more than just a statement; this was a victory cry. The sin issue between God and man was over. The fatal blow to sin was delivered. It was taken away once and for all; the debt was paid in full. Forgiveness is ours and we stand holy and acceptable in God’s sight.

Week 17 – John 13-17

John 17:3 is one of my favorite verses: “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” If you have ever wondered how to define eternal life, this verse provides the answer.
