Week 12 – Luke 12-16
The Prodigal Son
They were radically different. The one we know as the prodigal son left nothing undone when it comes to the desires of the flesh. His brother lived in self-righteous legalism doing everything he thought his father desired. They couldn’t have been more opposite in their choices and lifestyles. Ironically, both ended up in the same place; feeling like nothing more than a servant in their father’s house. Read the rest of this entry »
Week 11 – Luke 7-11
Can you imagine what it would have been like to be one of the disciples, or counted among the 72 Jesus sent out into the cities and towns of Israel? He hung there for three hours experiencing excruciating pain and agony, struggling for every breath, and then it was over. This was the story, at least how witnesses of the event would have described it. Read the rest of this entry »
Week 8 – Mark 8-12
An Odd Story
Why did Jesus have to touch this man’s eyes twice? Was there something wrong with his faith, or did Jesus just not have the power at that moment to bring about complete healing. It is an odd story, and one wonders how and why it found its way into the biblical record?
Here is the record. People in the town of Bethsaida brought to Jesus a blind man and asked that He touch him. Jesus led the guy out of the village, spit on his eyes and laid hands of him. Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see anything?” Wouldn’t Jesus already know the answer to this question? If so, why ask it? Strange, don’t you think? Read the rest of this entry »
